The fast section includes most cats such as , Hurricanes, Tornados, Unicorns and Shearwaters and high performance dinghies such as ISOs. Because of their speed through the water they tend to have longer and different sailing courses to the rest of the fleet.
The Slow fleet includes a wide variety of boats, including Wayfarers, Squibs, Phantoms, Snipes, 420s, 2000s, just to mention a few. By the nature of the section courses tend to be somewhat shorter than those of the fast section.
This section features young sailors, typically sailing Cadets, Toppers and Oppies. These young sailors learn to sail in most states of the weather - learning both how to sail and how to take responsibility for both their boats and their crews.
There is a large Cruiser group at Stone featuring yachts small and large. The cruisers have their own programme of events, including trips across the channel to destinations in France, Belgium, Holland and Spain. These trips often consist of a group of cruisers.
Support boats comprise an important section at Stone - no racing can happen without support boats being present. These support boats are crewed by Stone members on a rota basis. Stone is a self-help club so everyone contributes to its smooth running.
